In the midst of the “season” of General Election, politicians are out to gain the trust of the rakyat and make promises to the people to convince them that they are, indeed, the right people/party to be the next government.

The same goes for a candidate from the Pakatan Harapan party who recently tried to convince a makcik to vote for him in the coming election. Surprisingly, the makcik was not amused, and she made sure the PH candidate got the message.

“Give us a chance. This is the new government,” the candidate politely asked the makcik.

From what the makcik responded, it sounds like they might just stand a chance to gain her vote, if and only if they do something for the rakyat.

“If you actually do something, then okay. If you’re simply making promises verbally, I don’t trust you.”

The candidate then thanked the makcik before he left the scene. The clip was shared by fellow Barisan Nasional MP via his TikTok account, and you can watch it below.

The clip has gained the attention of many Malaysians who mostly praised the makcik for being vocal about her thoughts on the party, while others highlighted the empty promises made by politicians.

“You’re the best, makcik. You tricked Pakatan Harapan back.”

“Makcik is done being conned.”

“Love you, makcik. People have opened their eyes.”

“I don’t trust them too. They thought they could’ve gained your votes with only a few words.”

“You’re the best, makcik. I’m waiting for anyone that comes to me and tries to ‘campaign’ with me, I have lots to tell them.”

Have you made up your mind about the party that will get your vote during the next GE? Do you think PH can deliver its promises this time?
