We all know turmeric (or kunyit as we call it in Malaysia) to be an ingredient used in many recipes, especially a crowd favourite, Nasi Ayam Kunyit. It also has many health benefits as it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties among many others.
Some even use the powder as a face mask as it is beneficial for acne, hyperpigmentation, skin irritation and fine lines on the skin, according to Health Line.
However, things didn’t turn out well for one girl who tried a turmeric face mask as suggested by her mother.
Twitter user @ibuibuyakult from Indonesia shared how her face was stained yellow after applying turmeric on her skin as a face mask. She even shared photos of the after-effect which kind of looks like a real-life emoji. ?
“My mum said turmeric is good for masks but why is the YELLOW NOT WASHING OFF,” she said in her tweet.
When asked how long it took for the yellow stain to wash off, @ibuibuyakult told WORLD OF BUZZ that it took her about two days with great effort.
“It lasted for about two days. I put extra effort for getting rid of it to be honest,” she said.
Netizens reacted to her story with suggestions on how to properly use a tumeric mask.
“You used too much turmeric! I have used turmeric in my mask before but it has never left a yellow stain. Try using turmeric mixed with oatmeal and powdered milk instead, not just turmeric,” one netizen said.
Another netizen said that she made a tumeric mask by mixing it with honey first before applying it on her face.
