In a video resembling CCTV footage circulating on multiple social media platforms, we see a man getting hit in the head in a mosque.
According to BERNAMA, this incident took place in the Masjid An-Nur Pangkalan Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) in Lumut on July 18.
The short clip shows 4 men next to each other, and when they sit up, they hold their hands to each other for salam.
In the flurry of hands where everyone was shaking everyone’s hands, the man in the green shirt shook the hand of the man in the orange shirt. After that, the man in green smacked the head of the man in the orange shirt.
All the other men were shocked and looked at the man wearing green while he was walking away. Shortly after, he came back and talked with the victim and another man in white.
Following that, the victim lodged a police report. The Manjung Chief Police ACP Nor Omar Sappi has verified that they received a report from the victim in his 30s who works as army personnel.
In the report, the victim says that he was approached by a man he did not know, and after shaking hands with him, the man hit his head.
He elaborated on the initial investigations, “the suspect suddenly hit the head and ears of the victim with force which caused pain in his right ear.”
“The incident happened because the victim did not look at the suspect while shaking hands, so the suspect thought that the victim was being rude to him, which made him mad.”
The victim and suspect have gone to the police station to give their statements. The victim decided not to take any action and retracted the police report.
This is certainly not the right way to do things, as violence is never an answer.
