On Sunday (October 22), a Freedom for Palestine rally took place at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, that saw thousands of Malaysians showing up to show solidarity for those living in fear in Palestine.
Among those in present was Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil and former Permatang Pauh MP, Nurul Izzah Anwar. Though while regular Malaysians stood up and rallied for Palestine, many pointed out the glaring difference in which the politicians allegedly had a special, VIP area to sit down.
Receiving flak in the comment section for sitting down at the rally, Fahmi Fadzil has since deleted his post about the rally.
But that didn’t stop Malaysians from sharing their opinions about this matter elsewhere.
“Why is there VIP seating?”
“Palestine has to rise up but Fahmi Fadzil and Nurul Izzah have to sit down.”
“YB Fahmi Fadzil, like seriously, there has to be chairs? Come on YB, you are better than this. There should be no VIP treatment at a demonstration involving our brothers and sisters in Palestine.”
“I suspect that if he stands near to the B40 community, his mouth will immediately start foaming, that’s why there is VIP seating.”
What do you think? Should the politicians have blended into the crowd at the rally rather than separate themselves in an alleged VIP seating area?
