In a typical Malaysian culture, these are some of the most common types of guys you’ll see almost everyday. Most of your male friends will probably fall into one or a few of these types.
1. Gym junkies
The ones that make it a point to go at least 3-4 times a week, and it’s never complete without motivational quotes and captions on their social media posts, and of course, some infront-of-the-mirror-selfies. They claim it’s to track progress, but we all know it’s ultimately down to just sheer vanity.
2. Anime lovers
The ones that grew up reading manga and watching anime. These guys could understand fairly well Japanese just by watching so much anime and swear to one day visit Japan if they haven’t already.
They usually have a talent for drawing (due to obvious reasons) and would occasionally participate in Cosplay. If they don’t, it’s most likely their guilty pleasure they never shared to the world about. Most likely they have long fringes which partially covers their face.
3. Athletes
Unlike the gym junkies, these people exercise through sports. Futsal, basketball, badminton, hiking or whichever they may prefer. These are your outdoorsy male that you can turn to whenever you’re in the mood for jungle trekking or even run short of kakis for a particular sport.
4. Wanderlusters
The ones who are spontaneous and could just get up and go. These are the dreamers, the ones that crave for life’s adventures. To just book a flight to anywhere in the world and soak in the foreign culture, architecture, food and people.
They are most miserable at their desk job, having to endure the 9-6 shift day after day. But you know, they are already planning where and when their next trip is going to be.
5. Forever friendzoned
The decent friend you have but for some reason always gets friendzoned. He’s nice yeah and nothing is wrong with his personality, but for some reason he never seem to score with the ladies. He may have a lot of ladies friends, but they don’t see him as anything more. In fact they might probably even think he’s gay even though he’s not. After this goes on for some time, you can safely call him, the forever alone guy.
6. Party goers
You know, they are the ones that hit the club every weekend. Their best friend is most likely alcohol and their second home is most probably Zouk. Call them up on a Friday or Saturday night and they surely would be at a bar or club.. if they are sober enough to answer your call that is.
Any occasion is a perfect reason for them to celebrate. So these are the people you can count on to whenever you need to unwind to a fun night out.
(and if all else fails…)
7. Businessman
The one that has that entrepreneur quality in them and probably owns one or two businesses themselves. They talk about their job, or on a project they are working on. They are always interested to know people who work in different industries and how it works over there. These are the ones you don’t want to mess with and know that they are definitely going places.
8. SOHAIS
Contrary to the businessman, these people lack seriousness. They prefer talking shit all the time, and there’s nothing wrong with that! They are the ones that make you literally laugh out loud at how stupid/crazy they may do or sound. But in the end, they are the ones that brings laughter to your group of friends.
9. Desperados
These are the ones who are so dry that they would just try to date any girl they can. They creep on girls and pry on them unknowingly. Common signs of these males are them following hot chick profiles on Instagram or Faceook to ogle at them.
(No seriously! Don’t be that person.)
10. Players
As opposed to the desperados, the players are like chicks magnet and they seem to change a new girl just like that *snaps finger*. Most of the time, they can usually be seen being surrounded by girls who are interested in them (not to be confused with the forever friendzoned). They are usually pretty good looking, has decent financials to afford to go on dates and of course, a mad amount of game. But who needs game when you have looks and money anyway. Right? Right?
11. Hardcore Gamers
Last but not least, this group probably makes up the largest group of Malaysian guys. These are the ones who game frequently, DOTA especially, and even when the group of friends come out to yumcha, they would still be discussing and talking non-stop about their game. It’s easy to distinguish them as they always travel in packs of all males and usually in 5. They’re probably all single too.
