In a Twitter posting today (19 February 2023), Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he is impressed by the concerns of Malaysians over the fate of earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey.

He also added that 42 tons of aid have been sent out to Damascus as a result of the cooperation of the Malaysian government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the public.

“Last night, a total of 42 tons of aid as a result of the cooperation of the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the public were sent to Damascus via two A400M aircraft belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF),” he added in a tweet.

He also said that he prays that the Malaysian volunteer team in a humanitarian aid mission to Syria will be eased. Earlier, he also expressed his appreciation to the Malaysian task force and rescue team in Turkey.
