On Monday, three elderly folks were robbed of a necklace and brutally beaten up when going for their usual morning walk. This infuriating incident happened in Taman Tambun Indah, Penang on 27 November. I mean come on! They are aged between 66 and 78! Where’s the humanity?

According to Oriental Daily, the three victims were walking in their residential area when a Proton Wira approached them. Two men got down from the car while another one manned the vehicle.

Seeing something was amiss, the elderly victims ran for their lives. Due to their old age, they tripped and fell on the ground, thus injuring their knees. Oh no…

Infuriatingly, when one of the elderly woman was about to get on her feet, a robber pushed her to the ground again. She struggled with the robber before getting mercilessly beaten with a stick by another accomplice.

Here’s the CCTV footage of the crime.

When being interviewed, she told the reporters that she thought the robbers were trying to kidnap her, that’s why she struggled so hard to prevent them from dragging her into the car.

As a result, the assault has left her with bruises and injuries on her both palms, arms, knees and right eye. To date, she still isn’t able to raise her right arm and sadly, taking staircases is impossible for her.

It was understood that they have been taking morning strolls in their residential area for the past five years, and this was the first time they’ve encountered such incident.

Having said that, they would continue with this morning routine but will choose a spot where there’s more people. The trio have also lodged a police report following the incident.

We hope the police can catch them before more elderly folks fall prey to their heinous crime.
