Sometimes, a simple act of kindness is all you need to make someone’s day.
During this Covid-19 outbreak, face masks have become essential items in our daily lives. Moreover, it is now mandatory for Malaysians to wear masks in crowded public areas since 1 August. While we continue to abide by the standard operating procedures set by the government, let’s never forget the efforts of our frontliners who put themselves on the line for the sake of our nation.
In July 2020, a campaign was launched by two local stores – Nyonya Kain and MYDeliveryHeroes to help food delivery riders who have been working tirelessly to serve us. The initiative called #KitaJagaRiders was started when it was discovered that some of our frontliners have been reusing their surgical face masks!
Here’s a little bit about these two collaborators.
Nyonya Kain is a batik and textile online store that believes in zero waste and seeks to create awareness about the traditional textile industry. It brings the latest textiles, batik fashion apparel as well as handmade accessories to its customers and hopes to rekindle the art and culture from past traditions and to incorporate them into our daily lifestyle.
Currently, #KitaJagaRiders campaign is one of their latest 2H20 social initiatives that involves distributing reusable batik face masks to delivery riders.
On the other hand, MYDeliveryHeroes is a kindness movement launched in March 2020 to support delivery riders, including local food and beverage (F&B) businesses during the world health crisis. Since then, it has been actively engaging with the community to make kindness a norm.
In regards to the Covid-19 outbreak, MYDeliveryHeroes started their act of kindness by giving free meals to food delivery riders, donating essential groceries to B40 groups and providing free reusable face masks to our riders.
#KitaJagaRiders Campaign
In July 2020, Nyonya Kain and MYDeliveryHeroes collaborated for the campaign and successfully raised over 400 face masks in just a month! Additionally, more than 200 of them have been given out to riders from GrabFood and Food Panda as of mid-August.
The campaign also gained the support of 20 volunteers and F&B partners namely, Agrain and La Juiceria.
If you would like to participate in this campaign and help food delivery riders in Malaysia, all you have to do is to purchase a set of two reusable face masks at the price of RM30 through Nyonya Kain’s Instagram page. For each purchase, a reusable face mask will be donated to a rider with the help of the campaign’s F&B partners that will carry out the distribution every two weeks.
Undeniably, this has perfectly illustrated their wonderful tagline – ‘Protect yourself, protect a rider’.
Extension to the campaign – #KitaJagaRakyat
In conjunction with the nearing Merdeka Day as well as the overwhelming responses from the public, their collaboration has proceeded into the next stage – #KitaJagaRakyat. In this phase, more underprivileged community members would be considered like the homeless, the B40 community as well as cleaners. This is to encourage people to support the less fortunate by donating a mask.
Let’s spread kindness by joining these wonderful campaigns!
