Nowadays, getting an aesthetically pleasing-looking and delicious meal at the same time feels like hitting a jackpot. But fret not, this cafe in Bukit Jalil is here to satisfy both your eyes and your stomach craving.
Located right around Pavilion Bukit Jalil, CC By Mel is a pork-free Japanese fusion cafe that opens every day of the week. WORLD OF BUZZ recently had the chance to dine in the restaurant and we were absolutely impressed!
Like most cafes, CC By Mel has the atas ambience and is equipped with decorations like plants and a photo-taking spot. What makes the cafe stand out is undoubtedly its delicious food, so good and so instagrammable.
The first dish that caught our attention is their Signature Trio Taco box, a type of fried seaweed taco filled with rice, ingredients like fresh salmon, tuna, beef, shrimp, avocado, fish roe, and toppings like edible flowers and soy sauce. The tacos are as tasty as they look, and we really liked the perfect combination of the crunchy seaweed wrap and the soft and savoury fillings.
Next on the list is the Shake Salmon Don, which is rice mixed together with both raw and grilled salmon sashimi, ikura (salmon caviar), Japanese egg yolk and some daikon (Japanese radish). This dish is a must-try for those who enjoy salmon!
True to its nature as a Japanese fusion restaurant, their Ebi Matcha Sando (fried shrimp and shrimp roe sandwich) and Sando Sun (soy-marinated egg sandwich) were extraordinary. Different from the normal Japanese sandwich that we usually see, the presentation of both the dishes are stunning, not to mention the taste and the portion. If you are looking for something filling and tasty, we definitely recommend the Sandos!
Other than that, the Truffle Puddle was also one of our favourite dishes, where the creamy pappardelle dish is paired along with black truffles, wild mushroom, porcini mushroom, tempura enoki and egg yolk.
If you are a fan of noodles, then you surely do not want to miss out on the Yuzu Seabass and Ocean Capellini. Although they are not as eye-opening as the other dishes, the hint of lime and lemon taste in both dishes was surprisingly good. The fried seabass was huge as well, almost enough for two people to savour.
Onto the last main meal, which was also our personal favourite, the Unagi Donabe. The dish is unagi and clay pot rice topped with egg and fish roe, drizzled with the cafe’s very own homemade unagi sauce. The taste of it is so well-balanced. It took the kitchen some time to prepare this dish, but it was absolutely worth the wait.
CC By Mel also has a range of coffee and beverages available. We enjoyed the Dirty Matcha Latte and Chocolate drink the most.
After the feast, it’s time for the desserts! If there is one thing that we would re-pay a visit for, it is none other than the Genmaicha Cheesecake. We loved the strong genmaicha fragrance, the fluffy texture of cake and cream along with the oat flakes!
If you have a sweet tooth, do try out their Watermelon cake and Choux Squad. The latter consist of two fillings, earl grey tea cream and chocolate cream. Both desserts are equally as delectable!
Overall, we genuinely appreciate the cafe’s food, presentation and environment. The flowers and colourful plating made us feel like we were dining in a wonderland. It is certainly worth a visit if you are looking for somewhere to fulfil your stomach and take pretty pictures! However, you might need to make an appointment before going on a weekend because it tends to have a full house. Check out their official website and Instagram for more.
