Ipsos, one of the world’s largest market research companies, recently published the latest edition of its Love Life Satisfaction Index, a study on how people feel about love, romance and relationships in a single indicator.
As a 30-country global advisor survey, the study makes for interesting reading for Malaysians as our country scored 79 in the index, placing Malaysia in joint fifth place.
Ipsos Love Life Satisfaction Index 2025
The Love Life Satisfaction Index 2025 found that countries in Asia and Latin America are most satisfied with their love lives, with Colombia placing first with a score of 82. In fact, Colombians are the most happy generally about their love life and the most satisfied with their sex lives in particular in the survey.
In joint second place are Thailand, Mexico and Indonesia with a score of 81, while Malaysia shares the fifth spot with Chile, Netherlands and Peru with a score of 79.

For context, the score is out of 100 and is based on the average of three questions asked on love, romance and relationships. Moreover, the survey was conducted on 23,765 adults under the age of 75 across 30 countries between 20 December 2024 and 3 January 2025.
Most Malaysians are satisfied with their love lives
When asked about whether they were satisfied with the love in their lives, 30% of Malaysian respondents said they were very satisfied, while 54% said they were somewhat satisfied. Compared to the year prior, this is an increase of 7% for both answers combined.
On the flip side, 11% of Malaysian respondents said they were not very satisfied, while 4% said they were not all satisfied.

As for whether they were satisfied with their romantic/sex lives, 67% of Malaysian respondents said they were satisfied (30% very satisfied, 37% somewhat satisfied). This is a 4% increase from the year prior.
Conversely, 15% of respondents in our country said they were not very satisfied with their romantic/sex lives, and 8% said they were not all satisfied.

The third question asked whether respondents were satisfied with their relationship with their partner/spouse, and among Malaysian respondents, 44% said they were very satisfied, while 43% said they were somewhat satisfied. This is a 1% decrease from the year prior for both answers combined.
Meanwhile, 9% of respondents in our country said that they were not very satisfied with their relationship, and 2% said they were not at all satisfied.

Money does bring love life happiness
The overall study found that those with a higher income are more likely to feel loved and be happier with their romantic/sex lives.
83% of high-income earners across 30 countries say they are satisfied with the love in their life compared to 76% of those on a middle income and 69% on a low income.
The same is true when it comes to their romantic/sex lives. 67% of people with a high income are satisfied with their sex life compared to only 51% of low-income earners.
