In the most recent development of vaccinations for teenagers in Singapore, a 16-year-old boy has been hospitalised due to a cardiac arrest that took place six days after his Covid-19 vaccination.
It is said that the boy received his first dose of Pfizer on 27 June and he remained fine for the next five days after that. However, on the sixth day, he went weightlifting at the gym and collapsed at home. He is now in critical condition in the ICU at the National University Hospital.
The Singaporean Ministry of Health has said that the boy often lifts heavy weights that are above his body weight. They are now conducting clinical and laboratory tests to find the cause of the cardiac arrest and whether it is linked to the Pfizer jab, reported CNA.
Health regulators in the USA said that there is a rare risk of heart inflammation with the use of mRNA vaccines (Pfizer & Moderna) and it is seen primarily in young males, reported REUTERS. Be it as it may, the benefits of getting the Covid-19 vaccines greatly outweigh the risks.
Following this incident, experts have said that those who have just gotten their vaccines, especially teens and young males should not do any strenuous activities for one week after any dose of the Covid-19 jabs.
We hope that more studies are done so that there is a more concrete conclusion made.
