What is the most that you have been charged for iced water? 20 cents? 30 cents? How about RM1?
How much is exactly too much?
Well, for those living in Selangor, overpriced sky juice may be a thing of the past as the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) is cracking down on restaurants and eateries that are charging more that RM1 for a glass of plain water.
Named Ops Catut 8.0 (Plain Water), the operation is currently taking place at high-end restaurants, fast food joints, franchises, eateries and stalls across the country till 15 April.
As things stand, a total of 12 notices against food and beverage operators have been issued for selling plain water above the set price of RM1.00 per glass since the operation began.
According to Selangor KPDNHEP Director Muhammad Zikril Azan Abdullah, “Traders who are served the notice are given two to five working days to supply the necessary information as instructed.”
So, how do you do your part?
Consumers can lodge complaints pertaining to the matter and other unscrupulous trade practices at e-aduan@kpdnhep.gov.my, call 1800 886 800 or Whatsapp them at 019-279 4317.
