Malaysia’s latest entry for the 93rd Academy Awards, also knowns as The Oscars may see a Malaysian budget horror flick, ‘Roh’ win!

Taking place in April 2021, Roh, the story of a mother, her two kids, and a girl they found living all alone in the jungle, may have the recipe good enough for an Oscar nomination as it fits the Academy Awards’ criteria of film direction, storyline, cinematography, acting, and, music score.

To give you an idea of what the film looks like, here is a sneak preview of it made available on Youtube.

According to movie reviewers such as Asian Movie Pulse, Roh was touted as a film that had a small budget but is as cost-effective as possible, proving that you do not need a big budget to make a really good horror movie.

Directed by Emir Ezwan the movie has since participated in a multitude of international movie festivals namely TOHorror Film Fest (Italy), Singapore International Film Festival, Jogja-NETPAC Asia Film Festival, Far East Film Festival (Italy), and the New York Asian Film Festival.
