Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming slammed PAS for being hypocritical towards the Christmas celebration held at the Ministry of Housing and Local Government office recently.
He claimed that the party’s stance was inconsistent when it gave contradictory statements about the celebration, especially after PAS gave Christmas greetings recently.
In a Facebook post, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang shared a reminder – that Islam prohibits its followers from performing ceremonies of other religions, and followers of other religions must also respect the Muslims’ rights.
“Islam does not coerce followers of other religions to convert to Islam and at the same time does not interfere with other religious ceremonies.”
In his statement, Hadi said PAS has become the target of anti-Islam media attacks for putting its struggle creed at the forefront and explained what Islamic teaching is.
“Islam is the religion of human nature, which is based on individualistic, bodily, and civil society principles. Therefore, many of its teachings are viewed from the perspective of the natural instincts of creatures, particularly humans.”
“Human and social sciences establish teachings that align with the instincts of human beings who possess bodies, intellect, desires, families, communities, and civilisation, enabling them to manage the life of various creatures in the world, including humans themselves.”
Hadi added that coercion in religion includes the prohibition of banning things that are considered permissible in other religions, even if they are forbidden for Muslims.
