Take a walk down memory lane with this gorgeous Airbnb!

A University of Malaya bus that was abandoned at a house compound called Rumah No.2, University of Malaya (UM), has been transformed into a stunning Airbnb accommodation. The former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UM saw the antique bus during a visit to the house and asked if there was any use for the bus, giving the house managers the idea to refurbish it.

The bus was then completely transformed into an Airbnb that people can actually stay in! A series of photos of the bus were then posted on UM’s Facebook page and has since gone viral with 1.5k shares!

The bus, which is still located at the compound of Rumah No.2, allows guests to live in a nature-inspired compound which features an edible garden that guests can explore and help themselves to. The garden also houses a few rabbits and chickens.

In addition to that, the bus is equipped with most of the things you might need for a relaxing stay, including a queen-sized bed, a kitchenette, working space and air conditioning. The toilet, however, is located in the main house which is just a few steps away from the bus.

Rumah No.2 is situated right outside the University of Malaya campus and on weekdays, the bungalow is used as the headquarters for environmental education projects. A room in the bungalow has also been converted into an Airbnb and in the booking site, the management of the house mentioned that the proceeds from the room rental will be used to fund their projects.

The location of the bus is quite strategic as it is situated near a few malls, plenty of restaurants and the University of Malaya medical centre, but is still quiet and tranquil. It is also quite accessible by public transport and the price of this room is not too expensive as well.

After reviewing the accommodation on Airbnb, the cost of booking the bus can come up to an average of RM90 per night, not inclusive of processing fees and etc.

Transforming an abandoned bus into an Airbnb is certainly a brilliant idea and we commend them for it! The bus certainly has a very unique charm and it would have been a waste to not use that!
