The Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) is currently holding its 65th Muktamar (Annual General Assembly) for its youth wing, with all of its respective PAS State Youth representatives speaking today.
However, the most eye-catching speech at the PAS Youth Muktamar as of the time of writing has got to be the speech by the party’s Selangor Youth Secretary Aubidullah Fahim.
In his speech, Aubidullah proposed a rather ‘unique’ plan to win votes from the non-Muslims and non-Malays: Marrying them!
PAS Selangor proposes party members marry individuals from different races and cultures to attract more voters
In a livestream of the event on Facebook, Aubidullah took the stage at around the 2-hour-45-minute mark and at the tail-end of his speech, the PAS Selangor Youth Secretary touched upon the direction of the party’s effort to attract the votes of non-Malays and non-Muslims in the country.
He then adds that the PAS Selangor Youth has a proposal for the party’s youth members to marry individuals from different races and cultures.
Aubidullah elaborated,
“Why? Because when we marry across racial or cultural lines, we won’t just ‘capture’ 1 vote, but InsyaAllah, tens or hundreds of votes from non-Malays and non-Muslims.”
He then jokingly said that the PAS Selangor Youth Chief would be the first to ‘initiate’ the plan.
