After causing chaos online with the news of his “demise”, Namewee revealed that everything was part of his promotional strategy for his latest song. The memorial center, Nirvana also received criticism for “playing along” with the plan.
Just last night (April 4), Nirvana finally responded to all the backlash after remaining silent throughout the whole time. According to its lengthy statement shared on Nirvana’s FB page, the MV for Namewee’s “When I’m Gone” was sponsored by Nirvana, and the video was shot 2 months ago. Nirvana also said that some netizens were overreacting, which could be possibly due to Namewee’s controversial past.
“Everyone has their own ways in saying goodbye to the world. It’s actually a blessing to be able to say goodbye and listen to what your relatives have to say,” Nirvana explained.
Despite Namewee’s past, Nirvana decided to put that aside and help the Malaysian singer in his “mission”, and assured that throughout the production of “When I’m Gone”, nothing was interfered with.
“The production had never brought troubles to other families or the deceased. We can assure you this.”
As a professional funeral service provider, Nirvana said they have never disclosed details even when faced with doubts.
“After all, that is our professionalism. In the eyes of the public, the farewell ceremony may be considered fake and viewed from the perspective of “deception”, but everyone who attended knew that all the details were carried out in accordance with the method and process of a real farewell ceremony.”
Not everyone is lucky at the last moment
Explaining further, Nirvana said that not everyone is so lucky to have the opportunity to make the final decisions of their lives.
“Who should make decision for you when you are unconscious? Who would know your wishes? Who would know what to do at your funeral? If you have ever lost a loved one, you will know how heartbreaking and helpless it is to make the final decision for your family.”
Namewee’s “When I’m Gone” was released yesterday (April 4) at 4:44 PM, in conjunction with the Ching Ming Festival, which you can watch below.
