In a birthday post for his wife, Datuk Lee Chong Wei took a trip down memory lane and reminisced about how their connection bloomed from friendship to a romantic relationship.
Spoiler alert, it relates closely to an isotonic drink!
In his viral Facebook post yesterday (May 1), the former national badminton player recalled one of the birthday celebrations for Wong Mew Choo, Lee’s wife, before the pair tied the knot. During that night, Lee sent her home and was prepared to take things to another level.
So, Lee got straight to the point and asked Mew Choo, before she left his car,
“What are the chances that I can be your boyfriend?”
Mew Choo, however, did not respond. She got out of the car and walked into her house, leaving Lee stressed and heartbroken.
“I stepped hard on the pedal on sped off.”
Just when Lee thought it was a rejection from Mew Choo, the latter then texted Lee to tell him that she had left her bottle in her car. Surprisingly, the answer to Lee’s burning question was also on the bottle.
“I’m sorry. I left my bottle in your car. It’s also how much chance you have to be my boyfriend.”
Lee looked for the bottle – it was a 100PLUS bottle, signifying a “100% chance” of the relationship going to another level. Lee smiled, and the rest was history. If you have been following Lee on his socials, you might be aware that the man does not shy away from penning heartfelt posts just to appreciate his other half.
“My toughest supporter, my forever home”
In the heartfelt and nostalgic birthday post for Mew Choo, Lee thanked his other half for her continuous support and sacrifices that have kept the family together, to which the man is eternally grateful.
Lee also looked forward to making more memories and going on more dates with Mew Choo.
