Malaysians are very passionate about our local food, so there were many times when people squabbled over matters involving food.
Besides that, we love it very much when people out of the country mention our delicacies.
This is exemplified recently in a post by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America.
Their Facebook post detailing the origins of nasi lemak and a description of it was flooded with comments from Malaysians.
Some of them slammed our neighbours who like to claim our delicacies as theirs, while others gave food recommendations. Some also warned them about how lethal spicy the sambal can be.
“Some of our neighbours are looking at this post right now.”
However, some Malaysians are also very suspicious of the post.
“Why are they sharing something about our nasi lemak out of the blue?”
It seems that the CIA is promoting their fact book which is a free public resource for those who would like a dose of general knowledge about the countries around the world.
What would it be if you were to recommend one local food to someone who has never been to Malaysia? Let us know in the comments.
