Individuals who modify and ride motorcycles without a license while playing in floodwaters have been warned that they can face strict action from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

According to a report by Sinar Harian, Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that playing in floodwaters is not an offence, but modifying motorcycles to be ridden in floodwaters, as well as motorcycles being ridden without a license, are offences, and action will be taken.

The Kelantan Police Chief revealed that some people have been modifying their motorcycles to ‘rempit’ through floodwaters

He added that there have been some who have modified their motorcycle exhausts so that they can ride their motorcycles through floodwaters.

“Some people are carrying outrempitactivities in the water to the point of modifying their exhaust to be higher, to ride through the floodwaters,”

“My advice is that you can do it for the convenience of rescues, but not to inconvenience other road users. Action can be taken under modification offences,” he said.

The police are watching

He further explained that police officers have always patrolled floodwaters. Hence, the general public should always remain law-abiding under the watchful eyes of the police.
