A 45-year-old Malaysian man found himself in a tricky situation, not only due to the Hatyai flood, but also because he had to explain to his wife, who had no idea that her husband was in Thailand.

The man had told his wife that he was going to Kuala Lumpur for a meeting, but in reality, he went to Hatyai to “ease his mind” with his friends.

While the power of planning lies in our hands, no one can outrun fate and destiny. The man did not foresee the disaster in Thailand, and as the water level rose, he was stuck at the cheap motel that is currently his shelter.

Unable to leave the location, the man came up with another lie – Kuala Lumpur is flooding.

However, his secret was unexpectedly spilt when he accidentally shared his live location, which sealed his fate. The live location revealed that the man was in a motel near the Hatyai Floating Market.

The wife, however, was surprisingly NOT surprised by her husband’s deception. In a viral Facebook post by Pak Long Hery, the wife mentioned that she noticed the outfits that her husband had placed into his luggage – shorts and Hawaiian shirts meant for beach visits.

“There are no beaches in Kuala Lumpur. My husband will head home soon, and by that time, he will attend a ‘real’ meeting,” the wife said.

As of this morning (24 November), the water level in Hatyai continues to rise following the continuous downpour. Rescue operations are ongoing, and many victims, including Malaysians, were safely evacuated from their respective premises.
