“Remember to drink more water!”

This is one of the most common phrase that we hear from many people, especially from our dear mothers who constantly remind us to rehydrate ourselves, especially when the weather is scorching hot. Many undermine the importance of drinking plenty of fluid but what happened to a local influencer recently will (hopefully) alert you to drink more water.

On their YouTube channel, Charles and Mona documented their “journey” of being admitted to the hospital when Mona complained of excruciating pain at her kidney region. Charles tried to lighten up the mood by teasing his partner about the consequences of not drinking enough fluid.

Initially, the doctor prescribed her with some medications and told her that there were only 2 causes – dehydration or holding herself from urinating. Despite the medications, the pain did not go away. Charles saw no choice but to bring Mona to the doctor again and this time, they found out something worse.

Mona was diagnosed with a kidney stone, and a 5mm thick stone was stuck at Mona’s urinary gland, which explained her terrible pain. And the reason? You guessed it – dehydration due to lack of fluid consumption.

There is only 1 way to remove the stone, and you guessed it right too. Surgery. That was not all.

The kidney stone had inflamed by the time they found out, so more than 1 surgery was needed to cure the issue.

For that, Mona had to be admitted to the hospital for 10 days. Different medications and painkillers were also injected into her body to help her brace through post-surgery. Throughout the days in the hospital, Charles patiently cared for Mona and showed the viewers that her appetite gradually got better.

The total damage – RM59,000.

“A total of 8 days in the hospital, with 2 surgeries.”

Mona described her experience by saying, “I don’t ever wanna go back there again in my entire life”.

Fortunately, Mona is slowly recovering after she returned home. You can watch the full YouTube video below.

If this is not a solid reminder for you to constantly hydrate yourself with plain water, we don’t know what else is.
