We’ll be the first ones to admit this: Not all hobbies are for everyone! Especially those that require an immense amount of skill and precision to carry out, such as fishing. But have you ever wanted to partake in this hobby, but didn’t feel like sitting there for hours waiting for something to bite?
A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after one smart Malaysian named Lyana Aziz shared a technique her family uses whenever they go fishing near her aunt’s house in Kota Bahru, Kelantan. In the clip shared to her page @lyanaaziz99, Lyana showed how, filling a small bottle with some wheat flour, her family was able to catch fishes from a lake quickly.
After filling the bottle, one of Lyana’s relatives can be seen tossing the bottle in the water, all while it was attached to string, resembling their own makeshift version of a fishing rod. Shortly after, the relative pulled the bottle back to show that they were able to catch a bluespot mullet, otherwise known as ikan belanak.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Lyana stated that she had learned about this tactic when she was a child, as her older relatives had always been aware of this handy tool to catch fish seamlessly.
“Older people will definitely be familiar with this method, only the current generation may not be fully aware of how to catch fish using a bottle,” she said to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Receiving immense praise for generating this savvy idea, multiple Malaysians were enthused by how this method seemed to work seamlessly for the family.
“This is the first time I’ve seen this. Even using a bottle, one can successfully catch a fish!” wrote another user.
Sharing some tips, one user asked if Lyana’s family had used the concept of fish not being able to swim backwards. The content creator stated that, in this case, it was important to use a smaller bottle, as a bigger bottle may have facilitated the fish’s ability to swim out of the bottle and away completely.
Aside from that, Lyana also stated that the white substance her relatives had added to the bottle before throwing it into the lake was indeed wheat flour.
