The police recently launched an investigation into a video showing a disagreement between a road user and a toll booth operator near Jalan Batu 9, Cheras, which went viral.
In the video circulating online, the man can be seen getting out of his car and approaching the toll booth while yelling at the toll operator.
He was told off for hitting the reader too hard
Sinar Harian reported that the perpetrator, who works as a mechanic, was arrested on November 4th (Monday) after losing his temper when he was scolded for hitting the Touch ‘n Go card reader too hard.
Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof explained that the suspect not only used foul language at the operator but also kicked the toll booth wall.
He has 17 prior criminal records
The 31-year-old suspect was arrested at 7 PM in a residential area in Hulu Langat, Selangor, along with his car, to help with the investigation.
He also mentioned that initial urine tests showed the suspect was positive for methamphetamine, and he had a whopping 17 prior criminal records.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, which can lead to imprisonment for up to 2 years, a fine, or both.
Additionally, the case is also being examined under Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955, where a guilty verdict could result in a maximum fine of RM100. There are also investigations under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
