In a recent video shared by @rossneeda, she voiced her concerns after encountering an incident during her visit to an immigration office at 10am on August 15th.
Rossneeda described how, during her 20-minute wait at the office, she witnessed an interaction between an immigration officer and 2 women who were believed to be Indian nationals.
The customer service officer was called out for her rude behaviour
Rossneeda shared that the interaction caught her attention when the officer started raising her voice and behaving rudely towards the women, one of whom was holding a baby, in an out-of-proportion manner.
Seeing how rudely the women were treated, she decided to confront the officer directly, saying,
“As someone who works at the counter, you should be treating people with respect. It doesn’t matter if the person is Malaysian or an immigrant, they’re still human beings.”
She went on to explain that when she confronted the officer, the officer tried to justify her actions and dismissively questioned why Rossneeda was getting involved, leading to a heated verbal argument.
“It’s your duty to serve the public with respect”
Despite the officer’s attempts to brush Rossneeda off, Rossneeda held her ground, reminding the officer that it was her duty as a public servant to treat everyone with respect and empathy.
“As a government servant, you are supposed to serve the public with respect and empathy. If you’re unhappy, you should apply to work elsewhere,” Rossneeda firmly told the officer.
The situation escalated further when the officer tried to justify her behaviour by citing the high volume of people at the counter.
“This kind of behaviour needs to change”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Rossneeda shared that she posted the video to remind everyone to treat others with kindness, whether they work in the public or private sector.
In the video, she also acknowledged that while many government staff are polite and helpful, some behave in ways that seem like they lack education and are disrespectful.
She also stressed that customer service should always come with a smile and politeness, noting that everyone deserves equal respect, regardless of their status or position.
