The pandemic has reached even to one of the most beautiful sights in Malaysia. Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Secretary, Jamili Nais, said, as reported by Berita Harian

“The COVID-19 centre was opened in Taman Kinabalu for the purpose of contagion prevention operations involving Covid-19 screening tests on close contact of climbers consisting of mountain guides, public climbers and park staff as well as private companies involved in the climbing activity.  A comprehensive disinfection operation was carried out on tourist facilities along the climbing route to Mount Kinabalu, including at Panabalan Station (base camp) during the closing period.”

Following the increase in Covid-19 cases on the east coast of the state, Sabah state park government agencies carried out disinfection operations in Taman Bukit Tawau, Taman Marin Tun Sakaran and Taman Pulau Sipadan for seven days from September 20 to 30. He said Poring Hot Springs Station, Serinsim Substation Station, Sayab Substation Station, Monggis Substation Station and Nalapak Substation Station are still free from Covid-19 transmission and are open to the public.

With the recent spike in Covid-19 cases throughout the country, we would like to request everyone to continue practising physical distancing, washing/sanitising your hands and wearing your face mask. If you are able to work from home, please do so.
