As reported by Harian Metro, the father of two managed to be rescued after the captain of the ferry informed to coast guard about the incident.

The Seberang Perai Utara district police chief, ACP Noorzainy explained that the man who initially took a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth showed some signs of premeditation. He said,

“He then took the ferry to Georgetown but did not go down and stayed inside the same ferry heading back to Butterworth. When the ferry reached the waters of Butterworth, the man decided to jump off.”
