Abandoned places and buildings are the last place that we want to step foot in. We don’t know what has been lurking in the empty spaces ever since they were left empty.
Based on a video shared by the Facebook page Peter Tong Fans Page, a man recently defied the odds and did something dangerous by jogging on an abandoned monorail track in Melaka. No one would’ve bat an eye if the track was on the ground but the abandoned track was elevated and up high in the air! The abandoned track has no barrier on both sides and given the narrow space, accidents could’ve happened at any time.
One minor mistake and the slip down onto the ground could’ve cost him his dear life.
It is unclear as to why the man would want to use the abandoned track as his “treadmill” at a high altitude.
Abandoned since 2015
Train facilities like LRT and MRT are more well-known in the Klang Valley and many might not be aware of its development in Melaka, which was halted since 2015.
Based on a report, the development started as early as 2010, with the 2nd phase of the project launched in 2013. However, a malfunction in 2015 caused the project to be at a dead end. According to the assemblyman of Kota Laksamana, Liu, he said that during the period, the incomplete monorail track already had a journey of 3 KM.
“We wanted to allow the tourists to have a good view of the Melaka River from a high angle.”
Unfortunately, that plan never came true.
“It’s NOT a running track”
Liu also reminded the public that despite being abandoned, the monorail track is NOT a running track. He is also aware that it was not the 1st time that the public has invaded the area to run on the “elevated treadmill.”
“It’s not just about the width but also the sharp items that could be everywhere around the area. If you trip and fall, the consequences can be disastrous,” Liu said.
Liu also said the security game around the abandoned area has been increased. You can watch the video below.
There is no reason for you to run in abandoned area where risks are everywhere, which can put your life in danger.
