The recent Anime Fest which was held at a mall in PJ had not only caused the car park to be completely full, it also caused traffic congestion at the highway near the mall.

The issues, however, did not seem to end there. An outfit of one of the cosplayers who attended had apparently irritated some of the visitors of the mall.

In a tweet shared by Melayu Rasional, 2 images of a man dressed in a female maid outfit which revealed his back as well as a neck chain went viral.

A woman who was standing right beside him can also be seen to be holding the chain tied to his neck.

According to the captions in the screenshot, the user expressed his anger towards the man who decided to dress in such an outfit which seemed inappropriate and lacks common sense.

“The cosplay events in Malaysia back then were not this bad. The cosplays of the new generation are really bad. Are you guys simply cosplaying out of trends or to gain fame by doing stupid things?”

The user also said that his outfit may lead to more misunderstandings about the cosplay community where some people might label them as the cosplayers of hentai and porn.

The 2nd image showed the man with his revealed back. The user said that guidelines on appropriate outfits had already been given in order to avoid inappropriate costumers.

“I don’t like the kinky and slutty maid stuff at a public event.”

The user then urged people to just scold any cosplayers who dressed inappropriately at the public event.

Just another day of Anime

The tweet has since gone viral on social media and captured the attention of fellow Malaysians who have mixed reactions towards the matter. Some people think that the man’s outfit was just part of anime.

It’s as if you don’t watch anime lol. That stuff is full of sexual stuff and degeneracy,” commented a netizen.

Did they interfere with your life? It’s better you stay in the cave and stop thinking about these matters,” commented another user.

The kids are watching

In the meantime, some people believe that the wearing of such an outfit at an event may set a bad example for future generations, and pointed out how the quality of Anime fest in Malaysia has gone down over the years.

“Some actually just wore underwear, literally. I didn’t care much since they were non-Muslims but parents were bringing their kids to the event,” said a user.

“Wasn’t he cold wearing such an outfit in the mall? I would’ve kicked him if I saw him. Might as well just cosplay as a dog with that chain on his neck,” commented a netizen.

Anime Fest is certainly not something new  in our country and over the years, people have attended the event dressed as their favourite characters. Do you think the man has gone too far with his outfit or is this simply a typical anime outfit?
