Every year, Australia holds a transsexual beauty pageant for female impersonators, transsexual, drag queen performers, and transgender women.
Since 2009, beautiful people from the LGBT community who qualify for the pageant have entered the competition in hopes of being crowned the champion.
This year, a Malaysian has won the title of Miss Transsexual Australia 2017.

Laeticia Phylliscia Raveena competed in the pageant held in Melbourne on Saturday night and walked away with the crown.
The beauty also comes with brains as she is a graduate from the world-famous Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and is currently a pastry chef.
Besides gaining the title, Raveena also gets the prize of a gift voucher from Bangkok’s Kamol Cosmetic Hospital that is worth US$15,000 (RM66,450).

Nisha Ayub, who is a Malaysian transgender activist said in a Facebook post, “Congratulations to our very own Malaysian Transsexual rep Laeticia Phylliscia Raveena for your victory as Miss Transsexuals Australia. You deserved to be the queen.”
She also stated in her post, “Beside her is the winner for Miss Gay Australia. I’m happy that they divided the pageant to Miss Gay and Miss Transsexuals that shows the organiser is aware of the difference and diversity of gender identity, sexuality and expression within the umbrella term of Transgender. Congrats again to you dear Laeticia .You made the community proud.”
