In the wake of our recent celebration of Malaysia’s 64th National Day, it is both impressive and heartwarming to find Malaysians showing their respect for other cultures and ethnicities.

Nor Nadia Binti Mohd Syahrul Munir Morgan (@nadia_syahrulmunir) from Sungai Petani, Kedah has been taking the world of TikTok by storm with her entertaining content that notably features her conversing in Tamil and lip-syncing to trendy Tamil songs!

Nadia learned Tamil since she was a child

Nadia shared with WORLD OF BUZZ that before her videos went viral she was always happy to do TikTok videos in Tamil.

“People thought that I only do dubbing content for Tamil songs and dialogues, but in fact, I really do know and understand the Tamil language as well!”

Gleefully, she also explained how “after my videos went viral, people started to get curious and constantly asked how I am able to speak Tamil [and] where I learnt Tamil. I then did a video to explain all about myself and my family.”

She was overwhelmed by the warmth and supportive responses from the TikTok audience as she did not expect her videos to attract so many people out there, especially those from the Indian community.

“I’m so happy that my videos are getting so many positive comments and words of encouragement!”

As she spoke to WORLD OF BUZZ, Nadia explained that she learned the Tamil language from her Indian Muslim family that adopted her as a baby and raised her along the way.

When asked if she is planning to try out making content in other languages, Nadia said,

“InshaAllah, I definitely will try to do content in other languages also, especially the Mandarin language.”

Nadia also said that the multicultural country that we live in pushed her to try and learn other languages.

“I am happy with the grace that God has given me. I also hope that there will be more young people out there who will make a difference and be an inspiration to all Malaysians!”

Nadia’s TikTok videos

But Nadia’s videos don’t just showcase her impressive linguistic ability. She also shares informative tips on how to get a housing loan and explains property related terms. In these videos, she can be seen speaking eloquently in simple Tamil.

She’s also done several TikTok videos lip-syncing to many Tamil songs produced by Malaysians as well!

In an emotional video, she opened up about her background and how she was adopted into a Tamil-speaking family. However, she added that she is blessed to have grown up with such a loving family. Many viewers found it impressive that she was able to speak in Tamil using slang that is usually used by Indians.

Many netizens showed their love and support to Nadia in the comments, with many Malaysian Indians praising her for her fluent Tamil.

There is so much beauty in the Malaysian heritage, regardless of skin colour, culture and beliefs! May we learn to cherish and share that love with our rakyat!
