It’s never okay to judge someone’s looks, especially if your target of cyberbullying are the innocent parents of others.
Recently, local actress Anna Jobling took a picture with her mother and shared it on social media, only for some inconsiderate netizens to express their thoughts about the photo without taking others’ feelings into account.
“She looks like your maid”, some netizens casually commented about Anna’s mother.
“I thought that was her maid. I even said that it’s nice of her to respect her maid.”
“Her dad is Caucasian.”
And it did not take long for Anna Jobling herself to respond to the inconsiderate netizens.
“Why would you insult someone’s mother?”
In an interview with XTRA, Anna said that she was baffled by the inconsiderate comments as her family has never done the same to anyone.
“How would you feel if someone disrespects your mom, or your dad, or your whole family just like that?”
When asked if her mom is aware of the comments, Anna said that fortunately, her mom is a strong person.
“She doesn’t care about them, she only cares about me. For all the negative comments we have received, we have no loss.”
In the meantime, Anna also expressed her gratitude to the fans who have her back and have always been supporting her. In terms of dealing with the comments about her mother, Anna wildly guessed that due to her public figure status, people are free to comment about what they see fit.
Anna, however, hopes that the people would have commented more about her job or her acting.
“Why would you involve my family in your comments?”
Regardless, Anna realised that she has no control over what netizens wanted to express online, and the best she can do in the future is to just let them be without taking any actions.
“What can I do, anyway? Whatever. You do you, I do me.”
No one has the right to condemn or judge others without taking their feelings into consideration. Regardless of the status of the person, no one deserved to be insulted.
