Effective April 22, KTM Berhad updated their schedules for the commuters and if you rely on the train to go to work, you’ll notice significant changes in the train frequency.
1-hour frequency in the evening and 30 minutes in the morning
For example, if you miss the 5:12pm train from Abdullah Hukum, you’ll have to wait for the next train, which only comes at 6:12pm… assuming there is no delay lah. However, users have been expressing their dissatisfaction not only about the hectic changes in the schedule for the Klang Valley line but also about the major delay despite the 1-hour frequency.
This was yesterday's situation from Abdullah Hukum station towards Pelabuhan Klang, supposedly 6.12pm but came around 6.40++. And today's situation was WAY WORSE bc yall decided to use an older and smaller train with no ladies coach. Is that supposed to be shuttle train or what?? pic.twitter.com/CEkf9nJdYm

Some even claimed to have waited for more than 30 minutes and up to 1 hour for the train to arrive.
On the 1st 2 days of the implementation of its new schedule, KTM kept passengers in the loop about the train delays which, unfortunately, happened during peak hours in the morning. The updates were done through KTM’s socials and passengers were NOT happy about the changes in the schedule and the delays, which caused many commuters to be late to work.
Despite criticisms, KTM Berhad apologised for the inconvenience and patiently explained what caused the major changes and delays.
Let’s just say, for the sake of a better experience in the future, we’ll have to give KTM some time for upgrading works.
In response to a passenger’s suggestion for a new, better schedule, KTMB took the opportunity today (April 30) and explained on its Facebook page what has been going on.
“The development of the KVDT1 project includes the completion of track and infrastructure works in the Rawang – KL Sentral sector completed on 31 March 2024.”
Despite the completion of project KVDT1, the launch of project KVDT2 comes into play, which causes the changes and the delay.
“The start of the KVDT 2 project involving a 44-kilometer elevated track from Port Klang Junction (SPK) to Port Klang was closed.”
This explains why the Pelabuhan Klang to Tanjung Malim routes and vice versa are experiencing delays from time to time.
KTMB also said that the delays are sometimes unforeseen and they will be updating the schedule from time to time. You can refer to the latest schedule on this link.
Regardless, we hope the ongoing upgrading works will be fruitful in the future. To those who are relying on KTM trains, how has your journey been for the past couple of weeks?
