As one of the major cultural celebrations in Malaysia, Chinese New Year (CNY) is a time when Malaysians do lots of shopping to prepare for the festivities. So, naturally, shopping malls everywhere will see a lot of traffic.
To enhance the CNY shopping experience, Suria KLCC has outdone themselves with their highly-anticipated CNY decorations for this Year of the Water Rabbit.
Located at the KLCC Esplanade is the attention-grabbing giant rabbit replica made of gold coins. It is so huge that it has even hopped its way into the Malaysia Book of Records 2023!
Take a step into ancient China
But the displays don’t stop there. As you head into the mall, you’ll be greeted with the Suria KLCC Centre Court that has been transformed into an ancient Chinese town, inspired by the magnificent ancient cities and villages of China such as Dali and Lijiang.
There you’ll be able to experience vibrant CNY bazaars as well as take photos at the plentiful photo-op spots like the traditional Chinese gate tower and a reunion dinner table replica.
A photobooth providing complimentary photo print-outs and e-copies is also available for shoppers to commemorate festive memories with loved ones.
An experience like no other
Amid the ancient Chinese town setting, you will discover a Wishing Tree where you can share your hopes and aspirations for the new year.
In the spirit of the season, monetary donations made at the Wishing Tree will be pledged in support of Suria KLCC’s partner NGOs, in furthering their Mental Health Awareness agenda.
There is also an interactive “river” filled with sparkling water and realistic koi fishes. All visitors can experience the novelty of flipping virtual coins from the screen of a tablet and into the “river”.
Finally, if you’re a fan of lion dance performances, you don’t want to miss the ones at Suria KLCC!
The Lion Dance performance at the Centre Court will be on 7, 14, 21, 22 and 23 January at 2pm; while the Acrobatic Lion Dance, held at the Esplanade, will happen on 8, 10, 15, 22 and 23 January at 5pm.
See you there!
