Recently, Harian Metro reported that a principal of a secondary school in Johor is said to have been sexually grooming a male student. The director of the State Education Department, Azman Adnan, said a team is investigating the issue.
The issue first surfaced when an activist claimed the principal had been grooming the student.
More information surfaced afterwards in a claim that the principal was exchanging messages through WhatsApp with the student containing sexual content.
The principal was also reported to have won an excellence award recently and it breaks parents’ hearts to hear such an accomplished man may be a true monster. Although the evidence is yet to be gathered, the investigation could result in a heavy penalty if the principal is found guilty.
In 2017, Malaysia’s government drafted a new law in the form of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for offences related to child grooming or child sexual abuse.
