Malaysian businessman, Aliff Awang, commonly known as Opai on TikTok, recently shared the process of cooking Beef Rendang for Raya Haji, with one of the highlights being the beef itself.

According to Opai, he spent over RM4,000 on the Wagyu Beef and said “it was cheap”, although the premium beef costs RM1,600 per kg.

Opai said he bought 4 KG of Wagyu Beef but spent lesser after getting a discount from a friend from whom he bought it. He bought the A5 Miyazaki MB11 Wagyu Beef for cooking.

“I think it’s okay for a first timer like me. Those who have eaten Wagyu would not use it for Rendang.”

Opai also explained that he had chosen the tenderloin, which is perfect for cooking Rendang, as the part is not rich in fat like sirloin and ribeye. Opai wanted to cook the Beef Rendang for his wife and family, to which Opai dubbed the taste “super delicious.”

Opai, who is also the husband of Malaysian actress Fatin Afeefa, was involved in the Forex trading industry before he quit the field. Opai is currently selling perfume.
