Recently, a woman in China was rushed to the hospital for intense cramps and shortness of breath from being repeatedly pressured about marriage.
The 27-year-old woman is said to be under severe pressure because her parents frequently ask about the matter until an argument ensues.
Her story went viral on Chinese social media platforms after she was treated at Qi Mo University Hospital, Jinan in Shandong.
During the examination, the doctor diagnosed the woman with respiratory alkalosis syndrome (excessive alkalinity) in the respiratory system.
Apparently, the symptoms involved often occur in women and children.
Patients usually have difficulty breathing when they are too anxious or agitated.
Online, many netizens sympathised with her fate and shared similar experiences with being pressured to marry.
“Same for me. I’ll definitely get cramps if I go back to my hometown.”
“Why force the child to marry? Marriage doesn’t even guarantee a happy life.”
It is sad how sometimes, we do not get to call the shots in our personal and love lives.
Hopefully, this incident reminds everyone to mind their own business.
