Let’s be real, while everyone’s obsessed with IKEA for their furniture, no one can leave the furniture and home decor outlet without eating their delicious meatballs for lunch and their famous soft-serve vanilla ice cream!

However, it looks like IKEA Malaysia’s signature vanilla soft serve is no more, as they have just introduced a brand new flavour to replace it. The flavor in question? Why soya bean of course!

IKEA Malaysia announced the change in a video on their Facebook page earlier yesterday (2nd August), adding that the ice cream is now 100% plant-based, dairy, and gluten-free. This is reportedly part of their plans towards a more sustainable environment. We can get behind that!

FYI, the mass production of dairy is actually harmful to the environment, as greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere from the manure of thousands of cows confined in the small spaces of dairy farms. So, soy looks like the less harmful option!

Some Malaysians rejoiced at news of the switch, especially those who are dairy intolerant.

Others however, were not very receptive to the idea.

Have you tried their brand new flavour yet? If so, how does it taste like? (We’re guessing it might taste a bit like taufu fa, LOL!) Let us know what you think in the comments below!
