For decades, Marijuana has been a sensitive issue and it wasn’t until recently that Thailand legalized the use of marijuana for either medical or recreational purposes.
Following the news of decriminalizing Marijuana in Thailand, Khairy has mentioned many times that Malaysia is still at the evaluation stages for marijuana usage in the medical field.
Just recently according to Sin Chew Daily, Khairy has gone to Thailand to further assess the potential use of Marijuana.
In his 4-day work visit invited by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul, Khairy is scheduled to visit the Government Pharmaceutical Office (GPO) where he will be briefed about the cultivation, research and findings on the usage of marijuana in the medical field.
“This visit to Thailand would help us to better understand the uses of marijuana and its effectiveness,” said Khairy.
He will also be meeting the main players of the marijuana industry, visiting the Siam Cannabis Land as well as the drying centre.
Other than that, the Malaysian Delegation will also be visiting one the largest private hospitals in Southeast Asia, as well as the Somdet Chaopraya institute, which provides modern psychiatric healthcare services.
