This is probably one of the most bizarre cases we’ve ever heard!
According to Shanghaiist and NextShark, a woman in China reportedly ruptured her boyfriend’s eardrum by kissing him too hard on the ear. What?!
The couple rushed to a hospital in Changsha, Hunan after the man complained that he had serious ear pain.
Initially, the couple was too embarrassed to tell the doctor what happened before the incident. However, after further questioning, they revealed that the pain had happened right after she had kissed the man’s ear, perhaps a bit too aggressively.
The doctor believed that the kiss might have caused the rupture of the eardrum. He explained that the eardrum is only 0.1 millimetres thick, therefore couples should be extra careful and avoid kissing the ear too hard. Check out the video below:
A ruptured eardrum, or medically known as tympanic membrane perforation, is a hole or tear in the thin tissue that separates your ear canal from your middle ear. Besides causing hearing loss, it can also lead to potential infections or injury to the middle ear. Fortunately, for the couple, it usually takes less than a few weeks for an eardrum to heal without treatment. Phew!
Well, this is certainly one weird case! There may be other causes that lead to a ruptured eardrum, but just to be on the safe side, let us all refrain from kissing our significant others’ ear too hard!
