American singer-songwriter Brad Arnold, who was also the vocalist of the rock band 3 Doors Down, passed away in his sleep following a battle with cancer.
In May 2025, Brad took to Instagram to reveal his kidney cancer diagnosis, which had metastasised to his lung. In the post, he also said he was at Stage 4 of the disease. Despite the diagnosis, he said he remained unafraid, though he had to cancel his summer tour due to his illness.

“That’s not so good news. But I’m not scared at all.”
Less than a year later, Brad succumbed to the illness, as confirmed by his wife. In an official statement, 3 Doors Down said that Brad passed away on 7 February. He died peacefully, surrounded by his wife and family members.
Brad famously wrote Kryptonite during his maths class when he was just 15 years old
During 3 Doors Down’s years in the spotlight, many of the band’s songs performed well on music charts, particularly the iconic Kryptonite, Here Without You, Let Me Go, and It’s Not My Time.
In its statement, the band said Brad’s songwriting resonated deeply with listeners and helped redefine mainstream rock by blending post-grunge sounds with emotional storytelling. Brad was also described as a devoted husband and will be remembered not only for his talent, but also for his warmth, humility, and faith.

Despite the seriousness of the illness, Arnold remained open with fans and leaned on his faith during treatment. His health struggles marked a difficult period for the band and its followers, many of whom closely followed updates on his condition.
“He will be deeply missed and forever remembered,” 3 Doors Down said in its statement.
In 2020, Arnold released a single entitled “Wicked Man” as a solo artist. Brad was 47 when he passed away.
We’re now here without Brad. Rest in Peace.
