Getting hurt, especially for the elderly, is a big deal.
On the morning of July 19, an elderly woman had fallen into the sea when she was attempting to board a ferry to Tioman island.
According to Sin Chew Daily, there were no planks connecting the ferry to land, so passengers had to cross on their own.
In the elderly woman’s case, when she attempted to cross over, the ferry moved suddenly, and she fell into the water.
She struggled for 10 to 15 minutes before 2 brave men jumped into the water to rescue her.
After they brought her up to land, she was still shaken by the incident and took a while to recover. It is said that due to the plunge into the water, she suffered a cut on her knee after colliding with a hard and sharp object.
As this video has gone viral, many netizens have said that safety should be a priority.
“Hope that the relevant parties can upgrade on the safety aspect. Hoping that the auntie will heal soon.”
Another user commented, “It’s also scary for us young ones to get on to the ferry when it’s still moving, what more the elderly…”
Meanwhile, plenty of netizens slammed the ferry company for not securing it properly for people to board.
According to mStar, the elderly woman was brought to a nearby clinic for treatment.
