We’ve heard and seen plenty of horrible incidences of animal abuse, but this one might be the worst out of them all.

A 6-month-old rottweiler in Penang was suspected of being tortured to death. According to Oriental Daily, the heartbreaking incident was revealed by a Facebook post by Penang Hope of Strays (PHOS).

In the caption of the post, it was written that they had been notified of a rottweiler which was found to be hanging from a leash in the front yard of a house in Taman Impian Ria, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

The post further stated that after having lodged a report with the Department Of Veterinary Services (DVS), they quickly rushed to the scene.

Speaking to Oriental Daily about the incident, the founder said she had gone to gather information of the dog’s whereabouts from neighbours and that according to neighbours, the rottweiler was 6 months old and was purchased for RM1,800.

They also claimed that they owner allegedly beat the dog frequently and even refused to let someone else take care of it.

Meanwhile according to the report, the dog’s owner had apparently stepped forward after the incident went public and claimed that they are a dog lover and that the death was an accident.

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2015, those found guilty of animal abuse or neglect are liable to a fine ranging from RM20,000 to a maximum amount of RM100,000, a jail term of 3 years, or both.

We hope that the authorities get to the bottom of the matter soon.
