A company in India allegedly fired its employees who were feeling stressed at work.

In a viral e-mail that circulated on social media, the HR of the company said they conducted a survey to “check on” the emotional condition of its employees and thanked the participants for voicing their concerns at work.

In return, those who were experiencing stress at work were TERMINATED

“To ensure no one remains stressed at work, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with employees who indicated significant stress.”

The employees were allegedly laid off from work with immediate effect. A screenshot of the email has since gone viral online.

“No, they were not fired but we gave them something”

In an official statement by the company posted via its Instagram @yesmadam_official, the organisation clarified that NO ONE was terminated. Instead, those who expressed feeling pressure at work were merely given a break to reset.

“They were encouraged to release their stress and offered a chance to relax. They weren’t sacked, they were urged to rest and recharge.”

In the statement, YesMadam also mentioned the company now offers 6 days of paid leave annually for employees to de-stress, as well as a complimentary YesMadam Spa session at home.

The company also apologised for the distress caused by the viral e-mail that suggested the employees were terminated, and thanked social media users for voicing out their anger because “when people speak up, it shows they care – and care is at the heart of our business.”

What do you think of the company’s explanation and its decision to give the staff a break?
