People who were at the Nanjing South Railway Station noticed a man walking across the railway track to get to the other side.

However, he fell and had the lower half of his body wedged between the train and the platform.

Emergency services were called and immediately arrived at the scene. The rescuers used a jackhammer to drill around the platform in efforts to set him free, but it was too late by then.

A graphic video showing the man’s final moments has surfaced online. In the video, the rescuers can be heard telling the man not to fall asleep and to keep breathing in a desperate effort to keep him alive.

Sadly, the man lost consciousness, causing the rescuers to cover his face with a towel. He was pronounced dead by a doctor, who was also at the scene.

Many people wondered how he ended up trapped between the train and the platform, with one eyewitness saying that they saw the man jumping from one platform to another. Another eyewitness thought the man had realised he was on the wrong platform hence quickly wanting to change platforms.
