At this point, we’re pretty sure that a majority of you have come across this incredibly chic photo online taken from the 1960s, which shows a group of young female teachers gathering at the Malacca Malay Women’s Training College.

The photo caught the eye of many netizens for the fact that the women photographed in the picture were dressed to the nines in their finest baju kebaya, which not only proved to be extremely flattering to the figure, but incredibly elegant when paired with their beautifully coiffed hairdos and vintage kiss-lock handbags!

In fact, many netizens have wondered why such trends in fashion haven’t been brought back to the fore yet, when these traditional Malaysian garments are clearly a big hit, even today.

Well, with the help of keened eyed netizens, they have managed to track down one of the women in the photograph, who has been revealed to be 79-year-old Datin Zainoriah Abdul Rahim! In an interview with Astro, Datin Zainoriah reveals that the photo was taken of her and her friends over 60 years ago, when they were waiting at a bus stop during the Hari Raya Haji holidays.

“At the time, I was waiting for a bus to take me to my aunt’s house in Kuala Lumpur. I can’t believe it has really been over sixty years!” she said.

Only 19-years-old at the time when the photo was taken by a reporter, she said that the photo was eventually used on the front page of an issue of Berita Harian back in her day. 60 years later, the photo has clearly lost none of its charm!

Who knew that 60 years down the road, Datin Zainoriah has still not lost her chic elegance and charm? Given how stylish the baju kebaya is, we really do think its high time we see it back again in common Malaysian society!
