Three buttons that let players operate the Postknight throughout missions include charging, blocking, and healing. You can upgrade your armor, weapons, and potions using rewards earned from successful missions.
Forming relationships is also another intriguing element to the game. Players can offer gifts to specific female NPCs (non-player character) in the game and increase their heart metre with them, and if certain levels are reached, the characters will then gift the player goods. The heart metre will, however, decrease if the player gives the female NPC the wrong or undesirable gifts or fails to communicate with her for a while.
10. Ano: Journeys Through Tattoos
CtrlD Studio, a Sarawak-based Malaysian development team, created a platform and augmented reality game called Ano: Journeys Through Tattoos, which focuses on preserving and educating the masses about the hand-poked tattoo tradition of the Kayan tribe, a native indigenous community in Malaysia.
With many indigenous tribes in Sarawak at risk of losing their customs, this game serves as a means to safeguard and promote this unique art form to the younger generation. Ano tells the story of a young Kayan girl named Do’, who is about to receive her first tattoo from her grandmother, the tribe’s tattoo artist.
The game’s mechanics are simple, involving movement and jumping through intricately designed levels inspired by Kayan designs. Players complete quests to earn tattoos and can use the AR feature to see these tattoos on their own arms, learning their meanings and significance.
The game was originally developed by students at Swinburne University Sarawak, and now Ano has won awards. CtrlD Studio aims to explore the tattoo culture of the Iban tribe next, with plans to include other Sarawakian tribes in the future. Pretty cool and unique right? It’s specially Malaysian.
