Jenny reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ to share her and her husband’s urgent search for a liver donor. Her husband is battling liver failure, and they are hoping to find a living donor for a transplant at a hospital in Singapore.
She continued to explain that if they can’t find a compatible donor within the next few weeks, his chances of survival over the next 2 to 3 months will drop to just 10%.
They still haven’t found a compatible donor
Living in Sarawak, Jenny and her family have been tirelessly spreading the word both locally and on social media, hoping to reach compassionate individuals willing to donate a liver.
“We’re really moved by the support from our hometown in helping to circulate the message. Unfortunately, we still haven’t found a compatible donor, and we’re praying that one will come forward soon.”
Jenny also expressed her hope that this message will reach people in West Malaysia and Singapore who might be able to help so that the whole screening process can be done faster.
Calling out people who are looking to help!
In a social media post by the husband’s sister @lunnietoons_, Lunnie shared that their family’s only O blood type member is their mom. However, despite her having the right blood type, doctors advised that she was too old to be a donor.
“After consulting with several specialists, we’ve learned that the liver can regenerate in just a few weeks, with a full recovery typically taking 2-3 months after surgery. While, like any surgery, there are risks involved, it’s generally considered low-risk and could be life-saving.”
For anyone interested in donating or helping, Jenny has outlined the criteria for liver donors to ensure compatibility with her husband:
- Blood group O+
- Aged between 21 and 55 years
- Approximately 170 cm or taller
- BMI ideally under 30
- In good health with no major medical conditions
If you believe you might be a compatible donor, please don’t hesitate to contact Lunnie Gan at +6016-2343649.
