“Broke record” – Kelantanese Man Pays RM78 For Nasi Kandar in Penang, Beats Previous RM69 Record

Food is meant to be enjoyed, and some records are meant to be broken. If you think RM69 for a plate of Nasi Kandar is too much, an enthusiastic Kelantanese man has recently set the bar high.

In a viral Facebook post by Nasi Kandar Sulaiman, a popular restaurant in Penang, a Kelantanese man is revealed as the record breaker (so far) of the most expensive Nasi Kandar paid in the restaurant – RM78. The excited man had a lot on his plate.

“7 squids (RM49), 2 prawns (RM14), chicken (RM5.50), squid egg (RM7), Lady’s finger (RM1), rice (RM1.50).”

The man traveled from Kelantan to Penang for an authentic Nasi Kandar, and little did he know, he was meant to break the RM69 Nasi Kandar record, which happened merely 2 weeks back. At the time of writing (January 14), the RM78 record remains at the top.

Nasi Kandar Sulaiman also revealed that the RM69 record is held by a customer from Johor, while the 3rd highest record, priced at RM61, is held by a customer from Penang himself.

This is also probably an opportunity to flex how much you are willing to pay for a good, hot plate of authentic Nasi Kandar in Penang.

Penangite, Johorean, and Kelantanese have left their footprints there and broke their respective records.
