When travelling abroad, it’s really about trying or experiencing something that you can unlikely get in your homeland. An Australian YouTuber recently visited Malaysia and had the chance to try 1 of our local drinks in KL – Sirap Bandung.
In his TikTok account @lukedamantclip, Luke got his attention on the “pink drink” that some people were drinking at the stall. A local then told Luke that here, everyone calls it “Sirap.” The drink vendor then briefly explained to him about the preparation, which interested Luke and prompted him to give it a try after asking the price – RM4 per cup.
Luke then observed the vendor preparing his “pink drink” where the man added syrup, condensed milk, hot water, and lots of ice.
“It looks like something I’ve had in India before,” Luke recalled to 1 of his trips.
The Australian traveller then grabbed a seat to try his drink, and to see if it “tasted like anything he has had in India.” To Luke, it tasted exactly the same.
“It tastes flowery and like cotton candy at the same time. It’s like, got the most unique taste, ever. This is so refreshing on a hot day here in Kuala Lumpur.”
The clip ended with Luke paying for his drink at the counter. His viral TikTok video has gained the attention of many Malaysians but not all of them were happy to know his feedback about the pink drink.
“RM4 is crazy”
Many Malaysian netizens were shocked that Luke actually paid RM4 for a Sirap Bandung, which to them, is too expensive.
“Are you for real? Sirap Bandung for RM4?”
“Does Sirap Bandung really cost RM4 now?”
“Bro, you’ve just got ‘slaughtered.’ It costs RM2 at most at my place.”
“They’re obviously overcharging the tourist.”
You can watch the clip below, and make your own judgment if RM4 is too expensive for Sirap Bandung with that portion.

Do you think RM4 for the drink is equivalent to daylight robbery, or is it a common price in Klang Valley?
